ISCF Chairperson

Liz is the Chairperson of the ISCF and the owner of The Old Deanery Holiday Cottages, Killala, Co. Mayo. www.olddeanerycottages.com . The Old Deanery Holiday Cottages is a group scheme of eight cottages established in 1981 by Joe and Betty Keane, Liz’s parents. Liz has been the ISCF Chairperson for the last two years. Liz will be giving the Chairperson’s Address.

Robert Kennedy


Robert Kennedy is Managing Director of SuperControl, the online booking and management system used by self-catering accommodation and businesses in the UK and in more than 40 countries worldwide. He has an entrepreneurial background. After taking on three family-run holiday cottages when he left university, Robert invested in the properties and built a website and marketing strategy to progress from agency-managed to a privately managed business achieving 90% occupancy within three years. Robert went on to start SuperWebs web design and digital marketing agency in 1999 before launching SuperControl in 2007 to a UK holiday rentals market hungry for a specialist property management system.Today, SuperControl has more than 1,600 customers, including the owners and property managers of more than 27,000 cottages, villas, caravan parks, glampsites, canal boats, yurts, campervans and more. SuperControl continues to grow and has a technical office in Poland supporting its Castle Douglas-based head office.

Involved in the holiday rental industry since 1998, Robert is a long-term committee member of the Association of Scotland’s Self-Caterers, an industry engagement adviser to VisitScotland and an active participant in the Vacation Rental Managers Association and European Holiday Homes Association.

Robert will be conducting an interactive discussion on the Future of Self Catering Pricing’.

Charles Dwyer


Charles is a Chartered Mechanical Engineer with a masters in Management Practice from the IMI. He is also Chairman of the Water and Environmental Society in Engineers Ireland. With over 10 years experience in Water Management combined with an impressive business history, his clients achieve first-rate results, delivered in a practical and cost-effective manner.Company History: Lowflo – Water Management and Leak Detection was established to satisfy the increasing demand, by water users in Ireland, to conserve water, find leaks and reduce water bills.

In 2007 Lowflo was originally founded and was part of Dyno-Rod Ireland, of which Charles Dwyer was a director of. In November 2014, the company was bought out by Charles, a new management team was introduced and the company has gone from strength to strength since. With an office in Cork and Dublin there are very few areas in the country we haven’t conducted surveys. In addition to our business in Ireland, we have also conducted work overseas for the likes of the Water Authority of Jordan & the US Air Force, amazing projects and enormously successful.

Maura Costello, Director of Conflict Management Services and an Employment Solicitor will give a brief overview of the contractual relationships that can and do exist between the provider and those who work for them.Self-Catering Providers as Employers.

A person who is hired for a wage, salary, fee or payment in return for the performance of work falls into one of two categories

1. That of an employee

2. That of an independent self-employed contractor

In relation to the former the person will be either a part time employee, a fixed term employee, a casual employee or even possibly a child of “young employee”. Depending on the category the person falls into different obligations arise for the Employer. In relation to the latter obligations still exist but to a lesser extent.

Philip Kelly

Philip Kelly is an Account Director at Empathy Marketing ltd. Dublin. He graduated with a Honours Masters Degree in International Business from WIT and an Undergraduate Bachelor of Arts in Hospitality. He trained under the watchful eye of Francis and John Brennan in the Park Hotel Kenmare where he homed his skills for the hospitality industry. From there he worked with The 5-star Hayfield Manor and the Tifco Group before becoming Resort Sales and Marketing Manager for Waterford Castle Hotel. Philip teaches in CIT to the Digital Marketing Students on specific topics based in his field of affiliate Marketing which he will share with you all.Philip will be talking on ‘Affiliation Marketing’

Jason is the owner of freak.ie, a Dublin based design and digital studio, focusing on communications and visual identity across web, print, and video. Before launching freak.ie, Jason worked in the non-profit sector for five years as a web designer and communications officer. He has over a decade’s experience in web development, specialising in WordPress customisation, responsive design and SEO.Jason will be speaking on ‘Driving Traffic to your Website, SEO’.

Carlos is the Secretary General of the EHHA working intensely in the holiday home industry to create a greater understanding among politicians, decision makers and the public of the industry’s contribution and importance as well as to provide the best conditions for the companies and tourists in the sector. With a Master in Economics from the University of Copenhagen and also working as the director of the Danish Holiday Home Association, Carlos’ aim is to unify the short term rental industry internationally.Carlos will be giving an ‘Overview of European Self-catering Industry’
