Insurance has been a hot topic since our last AGM & Conference, so a lot of research and consideration has gone in to selecting a broker and policy suitable for owners of self- catering cottages and holiday homes. Our members are varied between single property owners, group schemes and apartment blocks, some on farms or have non-standard facilities such as playgrounds, so we chose an organisation that has the scope to cover each members’ insurance requirements.
ISCF on behalf of our members have negotiated a scheme with an Insurance Broker that has special premiums and policy features. The underwriters have advised that they will match or improve on your existing premium with your current provider. They have agreed to visit ISCF members to discuss individual requirements and have also agreed to work with John O’Hanlon of Phoenix Claims Specialists, an existing ISCF Trade Member, should you need to make a claim.
The Bespoke Policy
The main features of the policy recommended by this broker are outlined in brief;
Loss of Rent/ Alternative Accommodation cover 20% of buildings/ 12 months
Employers Liability €13,000,000
Employers liability covers occasional tradesmen, domestic staff and window cleaners. With regard to loss of earnings as a result of occupancy due to a peril covered under policy, these will be paid at settlement stage, provided the owner is able to show proof of deposits/bookings and any ancillary information that is requested by Insurers. The policy can offer cover for distressed risks i.e. those with claims or other non-standard risks as deemed by insurers.
By working with this broker, they will tailor the policy to the needs of our members and investigate the merits of different suitable policies. And if you want some objective advice, Phoenix Claims has offered to review any policies free of charge and advise ISCF members.
ISCF urge all everyone to have adequate insurance cover on their holiday home, with a policy fit for purpose that they can rely on. Details of the broker and policy are available to members only. We hope you will be encouraged to contact ISCF to find out more. Call the office on 047 32042/ 086 1785 654 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
